The Learning Lamp turned out to be more than just child care for my daughter Emily.  It was a learning center that prepared her for school.  Now that she has started elementary school, she’s attending the school-age summer camps each summer.  When she misses a day because I am off from work, she’s upset.  What’s she’s getting from camp is a lot more than she would get staying at home for the summer.  We could not be more pleased with The Learning Lamp.

Other Ways to Give

Photo

There are several ways to make a gift to The Learning Lamp that will make a difference in the lives of the children we serve.

In-kind Gifts and Volunteering

The Learning Lamp accepts gifts other than cash. Volunteers are always needed, as well as items such as copy paper, office supplies, paper products, cleaning supplies, books, games and toys for child care and after school programs, and in some cases, professional services.

Even if you cannot afford to support The Learning Lamp with a cash donation, there are many other ways to help out.  Please contact our development director at (814) 262-0732 for details.

Planned Gifts

Planned giving is a means of creating a legacy that will positively impact future generations of deserving children. Please consider making a gift to The Learning Lamp part of your will or estate plan. Click here for more information on planned giving options.

Businesses Receive Tax Credits for Scholarships

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program is another way to give.  It helps companies doing business in Pennsylvania reduce their tax liability by offering tax credits in exchange for contributions to participating schools and organizations like The Learning Lamp. Click here to learn more about EITC options for your business and how your contributions can benefit disadvantaged children in our area.

And it's easy to do. Businesses complete a simple form and send it to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development stating their intention to take part in the EITC program. Instead of making their check payable to the state of Pennsylvania, businesses send their check to The Learning Lamp.

“Part of First Commonwealth Bank's strategic plan is to help educate children in the communities we serve. An agency such as The Learning Lamp carries out that same mission statement by helping children of all abilities and income levels reach their full learning potential.”

David Starry,
Regional Manager, First Commonwealth Bank, a Pre-kindergarten Tax Credit Program participant

Because The Learning Lamp is an approved pre-kindergarten scholarship organization, area businesses can designate a portion of what they owe in state taxes to our preschool scholarship program and receive dollar-for-dollar tax credits.

The Pre-kindergarten (PKSO) EITC program is designed to better prepare children for the demands of kindergarten and elementary school by providing them the opportunity to attend a quality preschool program… at a cost they can afford.

The K-12 (EIO) EITC program supports innovative educational organizations. EIO contributions to The Leanring Lamp help fund after school programs, summer camps and a traveling science and geography program.
