Kids’ Day Out Program Offers Parents Child Care Alternative

Posted on November 22, 2021

Johnstown, PA (Nov. 17, 2021) – Parents can breathe a sigh of relief this upcoming holiday season thanks to The Learning Lamp’s Kids’ Day Out program. It offers child care on days when school is not in session, but parents work. With the extended Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas breaks just around the corner, parents may be scrambling to ensure their children are safe and supervised while they are at work.

“While snow days and holidays are a great source of fun for children, any day schools are closed puts a lot of extra stress on parents to find alternate child care plans,” said Lauren Stem, school-age programs manager at The Learning Lamp. “We plan activities so each Kids’ Day Out is special and memorable for your children, so they won’t lose the magic of having a day off from school.”

Kids’ Day Out is available for children in kindergarten through grade 6. Locations include child care centers in Connellsville in Fayette County, Somerset and Jennerstown in Somerset County, and Northern Cambria, Richland, Westmont, and The Learning Lamp’s before/after school site at Cambria Elementary School in Cambria County. Dates are based on school calendars from Cambria Heights, Central Cambria, Conemaugh Township, Connellsville, Divine Mercy Catholic Academy, Ferndale, Forest Hills, North Star, Northern Cambria, Richland, Somerset, Westmont, and Windber school districts, although children do not have to attend these schools or programs to register. A minimum of five children per site must enroll for programs to take place.

Parents interested in registering their children for Kids’ Day Out should contact 814-262-0732 extension 243. Find the Kids’ Day Out program nearest you and explore The Learning Lamp’s other programs at thelearninglamp.org.
