Begin Your Career at The Learning Lamp!

Posted on June 12, 2015

Johnstown, PA (June 10, 2015) – As many schools are closing their doors for summer break, The Learning Lamp is preparing for the 2015-16 school year! We’re hiring now to fill positions in schools and child care centers across Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties. Candidates can take part in on-site job interviews during series of job fairs in June, July and August.

The Learning Lamp offers meaningful work, with full- and part-time positions available for people with a variety of education levels and skill sets. Some positions also offer a lot of flexibility in scheduling. Available jobs include: substitute teachers for many area school districts, substitute LPNs, alternative education, special education and Title 1 teachers, ESL certified teachers, teacher aides and personal care aides, substitute custodians, supervisors for before/after school and child care programs, outreach staff, tutors and other specialty positions in schools.

“We host the job fairs at our main office so job seekers have a chance to meet with their potential supervisors to learn about the positions and be interviewed on the spot,” explained Kayla Cobaugh, human resources manager at The Learning Lamp. “We will be filling positions in many school districts throughout Cambria and surrounding counties. It’s a great way for new teachers and support staff to get their foot in the door in area school districts.”

The Learning Lamp will hire more than 60 additional substitute teachers prior to the start of the upcoming school year for positions at local districts including Conemaugh Township, Conemaugh Valley, Richland, Shade-Central City, Somerset Area, Tussey Mountain Area, Turkeyfoot Area, and Windber Area school districts, as well as local Career and Technology Centers. Applicants for teaching positions should hold a valid PA teaching certificate or be able to acquire an emergency certification. To qualify for emergency certification, a candidate must hold a 4-year degree from a college or university. There is also a high need for personal care aides and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to work with students in the school setting.

The job fairs will take place Wed., June 24, Wed., July 22 and Wed., Aug. 19 from 1 to 6 p.m. All three job fairs will be held at The Learning Lamp’s main office at 2025 Bedford St. in Johnstown. The Learning Lamp offers competitive pay rates, part-time and full-time options, health care and a retirement savings plan, plus opportunities to further your career with tuition assistance and professional development. All positions require updated clearances. Candidates should bring a resume and dress for success.
