Education-Related Jobs in High Demand

Johnstown, PA (April 27, 2016) – The Education and Health Services sector employs more people in Pennsylvania than any other industry, according to March 2016 Monthly Workstats from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. In fact, 1.2 million Pennsylvanians work in health and education jobs. The Learning Lamp and Ignite Education Solutions is adding to those numbers with a job fair planned for Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

“We host the job fairs at our main office so job seekers have a chance to meet with their potential supervisors to learn about the positions and be interviewed on the spot,” explained Kayla Cobaugh, director of human resources at The Learning Lamp and Ignite. “We will be filling positions in many schools throughout Cambria and surrounding counties. It’s a great way for new teachers and support staff to get their foot in the door in area schools.”

The Learning Lamp and Ignite Education Solutions are hiring now for full- and part-time positions in and out of classrooms across Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties. On-site interviews will be held at an upcoming job fair on Wednesday, May 4. 2016 at The Learning Lamp’s main office located at 2025 Bedford St., Johnstown, PA from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Applicants interested in any of the following positions are encouraged to attend: supervisor for before/after school and child care programs, summer camp staff, tutors, outreach staff, prevention specialists, substitute teachers, substitute licensed practical nurses, teaching assistants, teacher aides and person care aides, custodians and a sales associate for EcoKids.

The Learning Lamp is also recruiting multiple team members who must be 17 years old as of June 1, 2016 to work with children in Kindergarten through grade 8 in our free summer camps in Moxham, Prospect and Oakhurst. Camp runs from June 6 to August 4, 2016 and themes will focus on STEM/STEAM activities and culminate with a field trip. The positions are unpaid and are classified as AmeriCorps national service. Upon successful completion of 300 hours of service, candidates will earn an education award of $1,212 towards their college tuition or student loans.
