Help Wanted! Education-related Jobs Available in Somerset County

Johnstown, PA (Sept. 18, 2015) – According to a September report from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, Center for Workforce Information & Analysis, the unemployment rate in Somerset County is 6.9 percent. That translates into 2,400 people out of work and looking for jobs. In 2015, Education, Training & Library occupations employed the most people countywide, second only to Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations.

“The field of education is broader than the average person may think. At The Learning Lamp, we are currently seeking to fill more than 50 education-related positions for the 2015-16 school year,” explained Jona Duppstadt, Director of Education Programs at The Learning Lamp. “Some positions, such as Personal Care Aides, require only a high school diploma; however, if you are a PA certified teacher or hold a bachelor’s degree and would like to become emergency certified to work in a classroom, you can find a job in our substitute teacher program.”

The Learning Lamp is also seeking child care staff in Somerset and Jennerstown and before and after school staff for our program housed at North Star Elementary School. These positions are available to adults with varied levels of education. Interested? The Learning Lamp is hosting a Somerset County job fair on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 12 to 3 p.m. in room 30 of the Somerset County Library located at 6022 Glades Pike, Somerset, PA.
