Job Fair Connects Job-Seeking Teachers with Local Schools

Posted on July 10, 2014

Johnstown, PA (July 10, 2014) – Teachers will get the chance to meet local school superintendents and apply for substitute teaching positions this Tuesday, July 15 when The Learning Lamp hosts a special job fair especially for substitute teachers. The event will be held in the cafeteria at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center at 445 Schoolhouse Road in Richland from 4 to 7 p.m.

“Teachers of all disciplines and experience are encouraged to attend,” said Kayla Cobaugh, human resources assistant at The Learning Lamp. “They’ll have the opportunity to not only receive a potential employment offer, but also gain valuable insights from superintendents on how to land full-time teaching positions.”

In addition to the substitute teaching job fair, The Learning Lamp will host two separate job fairs on Wednesday, July 16 and Wednesday, August 13 from 1 to 6 p.m. at The Learning Lamp’s main office at 2025 Bedford Street in Johnstown. The nonprofit is looking to recruit alternative education, special education and Title 1 teachers, classroom and personal care aides, staff and supervisors for before/after school and child care programs, social workers, speech therapists, and other specialty positions in the classroom.

“We’re working now to fill positions well before the start of the new school year,” said Cobaugh. “With the sheer number of jobs that we have available, we decided the most efficient way to recruit staff was to invite people to our office and interview them on the spot.”

The Learning Lamp offers competitive pay rates, part-time and full-time options, health care and a retirement savings plan, plus opportunities to further your career with tuition assistance and professional development. All positions require updated clearances.Candidates should bring a resume and dress for success. The fairs are presented in partnership with JARI and PA CareerLink.
