Job Fairs Highlight Demand for Education-related Jobs

Posted on September 15, 2015

Johnstown, PA (Sept. 14, 2015) – Education and Health Services employs more people in Pennsylvania than any other industry sector, according to August 2015 Monthly Workstats from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. At 1.2 million, the Education and Health Services industry leads all other sectors in number of jobs in both Goods-Producing and Services-Providing industries. The Learning Lamp hopes to add to those numbers with a series of job fairs in Bedford, Somerset and Cambria Counties in September.

“Over the past 11 years The Learning Lamp has gone from a staff of one to a workforce of about 300 full- and part-time employees serving more than 19,000 children from 88 school districts and 46 non-public and private schools in 18 Pennsylvania counties and two counties in Maryland,” explained Leah Spangler, chief executive officer of The Learning Lamp.

The Learning Lamp is hiring now for full- and part-time positions in and out classrooms across Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties and will hold on-site interviews at three upcoming job fairs:

  • Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in room 30 of the Somerset County Library located at 6022 Glades Pike, Somerset, PA from 12 to 3 p.m. Available positions include substitute teachers for Somerset Area School District, including emergency certified substitutes, and/or teacher and personal care aides throughout the area.

Prior to the Johnstown job fair, join us for a Learn How to Become an Substitute Teacher Seminar from 12 to 1 p.m. Most job seekers are unaware that if they have a four-year college degree they can become an emergency certified substitute teacher. This seminar will explain the process and answer any questions people may have.

The Learning Lamp offers competitive pay rates, part-time and full-time options, health care and a retirement savings plan, plus opportunities to further your career with tuition assistance and professional development. All positions require updated clearances.
