Major Employer Hosting Job Fair in Somerset

Johnstown, PA (Aug. 8, 2014) – The Learning Lamp is hiring in Somerset County! To streamline the recruitment process, the nonprofit organization will host a job fair on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m at Somerset’s CareerLink office at 218 N. Kimberly Avenue.

A major employer of teachers, teacher aides and child care staff, The Learning Lamp is seeking candidates to fill positions at locations in Jennerstown, North Star and Somerset. The organization is also recruiting substitute teachers for Somerset Area, Conemaugh Township Area, Windber Area and Shade-Central City school districts.

“Over the past 10 years The Learning Lamp grown to a staff of about 300 full- and part-time employees serving 70 school districts and more than 18,000 children across Pennsylvania,” explained Leah Spangler, chief executive officer of The Learning Lamp.

The Learning Lamp will host a separate job fair on Wednesday, August 13 from 1 to 6 p.m. at The Learning Lamp’s main office at 2025 Bedford Street in Johnstown. The nonprofit is looking to recruit alternative education, special education and Title 1 teachers, classroom and personal care aides, staff and supervisors for before/after school and child care programs.

“We’re working now to fill positions before the start of the new school year,” said Kayla Cobaugh, human resources assistant at The Learning Lamp. “With the sheer number of jobs that we have available, we decided the most efficient way to recruit staff was to invite people to our office and interview them on the spot.”
