Man-Eating Plant Headed to Richland This Weekend

Johnstown, PA (June 25, 2014) –It’s a tale as old as time: boy meets plant, plant develops taste for human flesh, boy must kill plant to save the girl he loves. See it in action as Richland Performing Arts Academy performs the comedy-musical, Little Shop of Horrors this weekend.The performance comes after students spent two weeks learning lines, stage design, set up, choreography and vocal lessons, and rehearsals. Tickets are available online at richlandpac.com for $10 regular admission and $9 for students/seniors. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office.

WHY:

The Richland Performing Arts Academy is a joint effort of The Learning Lamp and Richland Performing Arts Center. Now in its seventh year, it has provided hundreds of 6th through 12th graders with the opportunity to build a broadway musical from scratch in just two weeks. The Learning Lamp is a nonprofit organization with a mission to engage all children in the support they need to succeed. We deliver high quality programs that are affordable and accessible to families of all income levels. The Learning Lamp served 18,468 children from 70 school districts and 36 non-public and private schools and other organizations in 32 Pennsylvania counties in 2013.

Our programs include: one-to-one tutoring; before/after school programs; portable classrooms aimed at building math and science skills; alternative education programs for at-risk students; evidence-based prevention programs; online learning and credit recovery; SAT preparation; educationally-focused child care; literacy-based preschool programs; and grant writing and project consulting for schools.
