Posted on April 18, 2014

Johnstown, PA (Apr. 18, 2014) – The sunny season’s on its way and so are The Learning Lamp’s summer programs for kids of all ages. This year, The Learning Lamp is offering 10 weeks of summer camp for school-age and preschool kids, as well as the 7th annual Performing Arts Academy—which features the musical Little Shop of Horrors.

New this year, The Learning Lamp will collaborate with Pitt-Johnstown to offer LEARN, a well-established summer program on the school’s campus that’s designed to give students in grades 3 to 8 a week of fun and features a full week of fun classes. Students will explore art, movies, science and advertising every day and get the chance to eat at the university cafeteria. Classes take place July 14-18, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuition is $149 when registering before June 13.

The Learning Lamp’s preschool summer camps for ages 3, 4, and 5 are part-day sessions designed and taught by teachers certified in early childhood education. Parents will find age-appropriate topics like Summer of Seuss, Ahoy Matey, Music to Your Ears and Circus, Circus. These camps are available in Bedford, Richland, Westmont, Somerset and Jennerstown. Tuition is $60 per week, and classes run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

For students entering grades 1 to 5, school-age summer camps feature fun ways to engage with hands-on-learning. Camp themes include Down on the Farm, Kids Got Talent, Globe Trekkers, Junior Vets and Messy Masterpieces. School-age camps fill quickly. Tuition varies depending on location. Camp locations include Bedford, Ebensburg, Richland, Westmont, Somerset and Boswell.

For 6th through 12th grade students who love to put on a show, The Learning Lamp is offering its 7th Annual Performing Arts Academy June 16-28, 2014. The weeklong program takes place at Richland Performing Arts Center, where students will learn the ins and outs of theater production as they audition, rehearse, build sets and finally, perform for an audience. This year, the featured production is Little Shop of Horrors. Tuition is $270 and includes acting, vocal and choreography classes.
