PANO Certification - A Nonprofit Seal of Excellence

The Learning Lamp has been awarded the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) Seal of Excellence for successfully completing the Standards for Excellence certification program. The Learning Lamp is one of only 43 nonprofits out of 35,000 statewide to earn this distinction, and the only organization in the Allegheny region.

Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector is based on fundamental values such as honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility and accountability. The Learning Lamp's programs and services, management, fundraising and financial practices were examined in depth before the certification was awarded. Click here for details.

For more information about the Standards for Excellence program or to request a copy of the Standards, contact PANO at (717) 236-8584 or visit www.pano.org/standards/standards.php.

The Learning Lamp To Go

The Learning Lamp To Go is a traveling science-based program designed to bring science, math and technology to life for your K-12 students. Our innovative, hands-on activities and experiments promise to elicit a WOW response from children of all ages.

Our newest attraction, Earth Balloon, is an incredible teaching tool and a cool way to engage your students in earth science and geography. Click here to see Earth Balloon in action.

Earth Balloon is a 30-foot high inflatable globe that teaches children about the world around them, literally from the inside out. The giant sailcloth sphere can accommodate a class of 24 and features a wide variety of age-appropriate cross-curricular lessons in everything from global warming and pollution to topography and plate tectonics.

All lessons are aligned with PA standards and taught by a certified teacher. For more information, contact the Learning Lamp at (814)262-0732 or e-mail lspangler@thelearninglamp.org .

The Learning Lamp is picking up

where ClassroomPlus left off.

With the end of Pennsylvania's ClassroomPlus initiative in August of 2007, 8,000 struggling students will no longer receive the free tutoring they need to improve math and reading skills.

To help address this, The Learning Lamp will offer full or partial assistance to any child who is eligible for the National School Lunch Program. Through our scholarship program, eligible students qualify for tutoring at a rate of $12 per session or less if their family is experiencing great financial hardship. Our services are available in schools and communities across Cambria, Somerset and Bedford Counties.

For more information, call us today at (814) 262-0732 or 1-866-785-LAMP.

“The Learning Lamp has helped my son tremendously. Not only has he brought his math and science grades up from C’s to A’s, but his self confidence has improved. He now has the self-esteem to do things on his own. I would highly recommend this program to any parent or child.”
-Dianna, Mom from Windber
