The Learning Lamp is a non-profit agency working in partnership with schools, parents and institutions of higher learning to meet the educational needs of K-12 students when they are not in school.
There is no vacation from learning at The Learning Lamp's Summer Camps. Whether your child is entering preschool or grades K-9, we offer a series of age-appropriate, hands-on summer camps that reinforce principles of math and science with structured, fun and engaging activities.
We also offer valuable review courses in math and reading skills throughout the summer to prepare your elementary, middle school, and high school student for the coming school year.

The Learning Lamp, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, also offers summer programming for higher achieving students with an interest in science, math, arts and technology. The Academy of Engineering and Science and Academy of Arts and Technology were selected as a Pennsylvania Department of Education Regional Summer School of Excellence in 2008 and 2007.
The Academy of Engineering and Science offers four, week-long sessions of high level, intensive science and math laboratory experiences for students entering grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 who demonstrate exceptional ability, achievement and motivation in science and math. New in 2008, introducing The Academy of Arts and Technology. The program features two week-long sessions of technology-infused arts camps designed to build tech skills and spark creativity. The workshops are for students entering grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 who demonstrate exceptional talent and motivation in arts and/or technology. Tuition is $99 per program with scholarships available. The Learning Lamp is calling all actors, dancers, vocalists, lighting and sound technicians to take part in our new Summer Performing Arts Academy. A joint effort of The Learning Lamp and the Richland Performing Arts Center, the camp offers students entering grades 6 to 12 the opportunity to stage a summer musical, "Into the Woods." The Learning Lamp's school age summer camps are for students entering grades 1 to 6. Our program in Richland is broken into two age groups, grades 1-3 and 4-6. It's never too early to give your child a jumpstart on the school year. The Learning Lamp's Summer Skill Builders encourage students to practice math and reading skills in a small group setting under the guidance of a certified teacher. It's an affordable way to offer the extra practice your child needs to excel in school.

The Learning Lamp offers a wide selection of affordable enrichment classes on school holidays, weekends and during the summer. Our school holiday enrichment classes are offered in partnership with Pennsylvania Highlands Community College and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
Classes are crafted to help students build valuable math, science and technology skills. Children love our classes because they are fun and engaging. Parents like our classes because they don' t need to line up childcare for a day off from school.
The Learning Lamp plans to bring many exciting learning opportunities to children in our region. The Learning Lamp also offers a variety of enrichment classes on Saturdays. These are classes designed with FUN in mind. Children can participate in music, dance, craft and activity classes.
Register now for SAT Prep Classes at The Learning Lamp! Classes begin in March, with needs-based scholarships available to income-eligible families. The SAT is a major factor in the college application process. Preparing for it helps students approach the test with confidence and better test-taking skills.
The Learning Lamp's SAT Prep group classes and individual tutoring will sharpen a student's test-taking skills by reviewing techniques, concepts and question types that apply to the SAT exam. What do students who have completed the course say about the help they received?

The Learning Lamp SAT Prep Course is taught by experienced, certified teachers and is structured to help students better navigate the exam. Our course is divided into three sections: Math, Reading/Writing and Essay. Choose one section or attend all three. Our structured program emphasizes strategies such as analyzing difficult vocabulary, scanning passages for content, applying mathematical logic and reviewing important concepts in higher level math.
