K-12 Tuition Assistance
The Learning Lamp is an Opportunity Scholarship Organization and a Scholarship Organization in the state of Pennsylvania. What does that mean? It means that we are able to receive tax credit donations from businesses in the state, and use those donations to fund tuition assistance to families in our area.
These are not full scholarships, but will help your family to afford non-public school. Award amounts depend on the number of donations we receive each year. Funding must be applied for each year and is not guaranteed from year to year (in other words, we may be able to help you one year but not the next, so please also look for alternate funding sources).
Students who live within a low-achieving school district, as determined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, are eligible to receive a scholarship if their household’s annual income is no greater than $76,350 plus $15,270 for each dependent member of the household. More information can be found on the state website here.
Tuition assistance awards will be made until the funds are gone. All awardees will be asked to complete ten (10) hours of volunteer service to The Learning Lamp during the school year.
We are now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. The tuition assistance application 2017-2018 school year must be completed in full and submitted with copy of your 2016 tax return. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Return completed applications and a copy of your 2016 tax return by Friday, June 30, 2017 to The Learning Lamp, c/o EITC Application, 2025 Bedford St., Johnstown, PA 15904. Awards will be made in mid-July and are based on eligibility and the amount of funding we receive.
