Fingerprinting Drop-In Hours Help Individuals Meet Background Check Requirements

Posted on August 26, 2015

Johnstown, PA (August 19, 2015) – Pennsylvania law requires anyone having direct contact or routine interaction with children to undergo a fingerprint-based FBI criminal history record check. The law applies not only to schools and child care facilities, but will affect everything from referees of youth sporting events to bus drivers and doctors’ offices – anywhere adults work with children, even for short periods of time.

In an effort to keep kids safe and better support schools, child care centers and other community groups in complying with Pennsylvania law, The Learning Lamp now offers drop-in hours for fingerprinting services at our main office located at 2025 Bedford Street in Johnstown. A trained technician will be available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for fingerprinting services. In addition, evening hours will be available on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. We use live scanning technology to capture fingerprints and electronically transfer the images to the FBI in a matter of seconds. Individuals using the fingerprinting services will receive their results via U.S. Mail within 10 days.

In order to be fingerprinted, employees must first register online at www.pa.cogentid.com. Any individual to be fingerprinted must produce a Cogent registration number and present a qualified State or Federal photo ID.
