Johnstown, PA (July 5, 2016) – The start of school is right around the corner andThe Learning Lamp and Ignite Education Solutions are preparing for the 2016-17 school year by hiring to fill positions in schools and child care centers across Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties. To streamline the recruitment process, the nonprofit organizations will host a joint job fair on Wednesday, July 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Learning Lamp’s main office at 2025 Bedford Street in Johnstown.

“We’re working now to fill positions before the start of the new school year,” said Maria Pompa, staffing specialist at The Learning Lamp. “We have many jobs available. Offering applicants on-site interviews gives them the best chance of finding a position that’s the right fit for them.”

The Learning Lamp and Ignite Education Solutions offer meaningful work, with full- and part-time positions available for people with a variety of education levels and skill sets. Some positions also offer a lot of flexibility in scheduling. Available jobs include: counselors, special education teachers, alternative education teachers, preschool aides, substitute teachers including emergency certified subs, teaching assistants, teacher aides and personal care aides, tutors in all subject areas, supervisors for before and after school and child care programs, prevention specialists, licensed practical nurses, custodians and other specialty positions in schools.

The Learning Lamp and Ignite Education Solutions will hire more than 50 additional substitute teachers prior to the start of the upcoming school year for positions at districts including Chestnut Ridge, Conemaugh Township Area, Conemaugh Valley, Forest Hills, Richland, Richland Academy, Shade-Central City, Somerset Area, Tussey Mountain Area, Turkeyfoot Valley Area, and Windber Area, as well as local Career and Technology Centers. Applicants for teaching positions should hold a valid PA teaching certificate or be able to acquire an emergency certification. To qualify for emergency certification, a candidate must hold a 4-year degree from a college or university.

There is also a high demand for personal care aides, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Registered Nurses (RNs) to work with students in the school setting.
