Local Authors to Showcase Published Works at Book Festival

Johnstown, PA (Apr. 6, 2015) – Western Pennsylvania has many talented authors of its own, three of whom will participate in the 7th Annual Children’s Book Festival of Johnstown this coming weekend, April 10-12. In addition to enjoying presentations from nationally known and award-winning authors, festivalgoers will get the chance to meet three women who have been successful in publishing children’s stories of their own!

Petunia PepperCathy Breisacher of Hollidaysburg (Petunia Pepper’s Picture Day) Every year disaster strikes her on school picture day. Poofy hair, pumpkin-style smiles and pink eye create pictures that only her family could love. But this year, Petunia promises herself things are going to change. She plans carefully for the perfect picture day. Unfortunately, she misses the school bus and begins a series of misadventures that lead to yet another picture day catastrophe.

riley's heart machine Lori Jones of Pittsburgh (Riley’s Heart Machine) Riley worries about sharing her secret of having a heart defect and a pacemaker with her school friends. She tackles her fear of being different and reveals her secret to her friends in a unique way. Follow Riley’s journey of sharing her story and overcoming her fear of being different.

sydney and me_2Jodi Uhron of Johnstown (Sydney & Me) Taylor has a special sister–the family’s dog, Sydney! The author uses her 3-year-old daughter’s viewpoint to explain the dog’s and baby’s first introduction, child-dog safety tips, small dog-care chores for a child, and the fun that they have together.
