Online Tutoring and SAT Prep Available to Support Students in Uncertain TimesPosted on April 1, 2020
Johnstown, PA (April 1, 2020) – With schools closed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 outbreak, some parents are struggling to help their child with at-home school work. Similarly, high school students preparing for college admissions and the SAT are on hold as exams and college visits are postponed. To help lessen the skill gap created from being out of the classroom and keep the college admissions process on track, The Learning Lamp is launching affordable one-to-one tutoring and SAT preparation online.
Sessions, conducted through the online videoconferencing platform Zoom, are taught by experienced certified teachers. They are focused on helping students in grades K-12 maintain skills and make academic gains through personalized tutoring, which can include materials sent home by students’ schools. Online assistance for high schoolers is also available, with customized SAT preparation focused on content, test-taking strategies, and study tips. Lessons are individualized to the needs of each learner. Online tutoring and SAT prep is conducted using live instruction. It offers flexible hours, no long-term contracts and is affordable at a nominal cost of $20 per hour.
“We want K-12 students and their families to know that The Learning Lamp is here for them during this time of uncertainty,” said Emily Yuahs, director of Ignite Education Solutions, a division of The Learning Lamp that is dedicated to serving schools and helping children reach their full potential in the classroom. “While we realize that disruption to academics is one of many issues families are juggling at the moment, we hope that providing these online options will lessen the uncertainty as students to continue to work toward their goals.”
As more and more families are affected by fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, The Learning Lamp will continue to be a resource for students and their families as we have for the past 15 plus years—by engaging all children in the support they need to succeed.
